Book Recommendations For The Coming of Spring

 

 OMAIMON PARADOSIS reading recommendations. Most of this books can be found in the usual sites like Amazon etc if not in local bookstores. 

 

 

- A MEANS TO FREEDOM - The Letters of H.P.Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard
Massive! A work in two volumes. The corespondance of the best American writters ever.
Covering the period of 1930 to 1936. A talk between giants!

 

- HITLER'S VIENNA
Excellent and in-depth work about Hitler's poverty years in Vienna. In fact, its something like a
a continuation where August Kubizek left off with his "The Young Hitler I knew"

 

- THE CONQUERING OF BERLIN
Joseph Goebbels' first hand account about the years of strife. From the moment
that appointed as Gaulaiter of Berlin. Equally excellent as "From the Kaizerhof to the Reich Chancellery".
Just it covers more years and with more details and stories. A must!!!!

- THE BEST ONES LEFT IN STALINGRAND
Unfortunately there a Greek version only of this book.
The memoirs of Martin Jordan a Wehrmacht officer (Cavalry Division) that took part in all the major battles of WWII.
Poland, France and most importantly in the Operation Barbarossa.
After the war, Martin Jordan married a Greek woman and spend the rest of his years in Hellas. In 1994 he printed this book by himself in Athens ( and not by a publishing house) limited to 200 copies only! To my suprize, I found a last copy in a second hand bookstore few weeks ago.

 

- COSMOPOLITAN NATIONALISTS
Again a Greek version only. With a very provocative and contradictory title.
A book exclusively about French Nationalist writter Maurice Barres and the influence
that his ideas had across Europe and countries like Hellas, Spain, Italy and also in
the movements of Fascism and National Socialism.

 

- JULIUS CAESAR
The Hellenic Version of this classic of Shakespeare. I already had a post-00s version of it,
but I`ve got as a gift a 1950's (May 1953 to be more extact) edition with a great looking cover. The difference of every other version out there is the translator. Apart from a truly Shakespeare expert, he was also a war veteran that fought in Balkan Wars in 1910's and also in the Minor
Asia campaign in 1920's as an officer in the Hellenic army. He also had pro-Nationalist
and anti-democratic ideas, plus his language skills are over the top!

 

CONSERVATISM IN EUROPE - Traditionalism, Reaction and Counter Revolution 1770-1945
 A book about how the movements of Post French Revolution era influenuenced and led to the creation of National Socialism and Fascism. The roots of this movements in
early conservatism, Romanticism etc Intreasting book and very informative. Especially about 18th  and 19th centuries.
