These mid-June days in Athens are rather unusual. Filled with grey skies, a lot of thunders and heavy rainfall. Few hours ago, during such a rainfall that makes the driving of motorbike in a main highway somewhere near the city centre almost impossible. There I found myself rainsoaked amidst other people, watching the rain passing by.
Despite the fact that it was an early afternoon hour, it was that very moment that that my mind recalled the other "rain" , the real one , that Travis Bickle described in this brilliant monologue taken from the classic film "Taxi Driver"
"All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets."
"All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets."
The quote from ''Taxi Driver'' is so true. European cities are so dangerous nowadays. Only elitism and natural selection can save us from the scum. Europe really needs a very heavy rain to wash them all.
